The Maternal Health Consultant Training (MHC) is a grassroots movement developed to improve maternal wellness within our communities. To educate and empower the everyday person and community healers with fundamental knowledge about normal health perimeters.

The MHC Training empowers the community to secure wellness by teaching basic skills that can help prevent maternal and infant injury and loss. This training is for all womben, to empower her with the fundamental knowledge of normal body processes and help her to self-assess for her own wellness. As such, the MHC Training is for all parents to aid in the care of their families and community.

The MHC Training is for all Allied Birth Workers such as Labor Assistants (Doulas), Lactation Professionals, Childbirth Educators and the likes. These community service workers provide intermittent care for pregnant and postpartum womben and babies.

The Maternal Health Consultant Training is instructed by Sekesa Berry, Traditional Midwife. Registration includes a hard copy of When Birth Calls. The training manual must be downloaded prior to the first day of training which will be instructed in Zoom.

Day One March 17th

Herstory and legacy of traditional women’s care during pregnancy and postpartum.

The impact of institutional and systemic racism on black maternal health in the US.

Wholistic Hueman Anatomy & Body functions

Day Two March 18th

Body temperatures and what they reveal.

Stress, an unsustainable reality and measuring it’s impact through blood pressures.

Warning signs that pose threats to both maternal and infant wellness.

Day Three March 19th

Diabetes as a modern-day epidemic and glucose measurements.

Urinalysis, a window into the body’s chemistry.

Identify abnormal and know when to seek medical or alternative care..

*Note: The Wellness Tool Kit is composed of a Sphygmomanometer (Blood Pressure Cuff), Urine Sticks, a Thermometer and a Glucometer. The kit is essential for the hands-on section of this training and can be purchased here.
